Description

Do you have a well or spring in Floyd County?  Do you wonder if your water is safe to drink?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

How does it work?

  1. Pick up your sample kit at the Floyd Extension office (physical distancing measures will be in place and masks are required).
  2. Collect samples on designated date and drop off locally (physical distancing measures will be in place and masks are required).
  3. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech.  Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via email. A recorded video presentation will be available to help you understand your results.

Manganese

Coliform bacteria

Arsenic

Sulfate

Sodium

Copper

E. coli bacteria

Lead

Nitrate

Fluoride

Hardness

Total Dissolved Solids

pH

REGISTER IN PERSON**: Cash or check payments will be accepted at the time of pick up, but registration is required by phone (540)745-9307 prior to May 10th.  Be sure to make checks payable to VCE-Floyd County.  Please note there is a $50 returned check fee.

REFUND POLICY: Refunds are available for this program for those who pay but do not participate.  Any refunds issued will incur a $5 processing fee.
