Virginia Cooperative Extension Provides Affordable Water Testing and Interpretation for Wells and Springs of Households in Albemarle County, the City of Charlottesville and the surrounding counties
Do you have a well, spring or cistern?
Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit and instructions at the Albemarle County Office Building (1600 5th Street). Curbside kit pickup will occur on Monday, September 23, 2024, 3:30pm – 5:30pm.
- Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Albemarle County Office Building (1600 5th Street). Sample drop off will occur on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, 7:30am – 9:00am.
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Results will be emailed or mailed approximately 30 days after drop off. An online presentation link will also be provided to help you understand your results.

Checks should be made payable to Treasurer of Virginia Tech. There is a $50 return check fee. Your registration is not complete until payment is received and processed.
