What’s in your water?
The Virginia Household Water Quality Program aims to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with wells, springs and cisterns. We provide affordable water testing, help interpreting their water test results, and information about addressing problems.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit at 1739 Richmond Highway (The Rowser Building), Stafford, VA 22554. Please call prior to arriving to ensure kits and staff availability (540-658-8000). Kit pickup will occur on 10/9/2025 - 10/14/2025, 8:30am - 4:00pm.
- Collect samples and drop off in the parking lot, 1739 Richmond Highway (The Rowser Building), Stafford, VA 22554. Drop off will occur on Wednesday, 10/15/2025, 7:00am - 9:00am ONLY.
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via email about 5 weeks after the sample drop off.

Cost: $70/sample kit
(comparable analysis at a private commercial lab would cost more than $300)
