The Virginia Household Water Quality Program aims to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with wells, springs and cisterns. We provide affordable water testing, help interpreting their water test results, and information about addressing problems.
How does it work?
1. Pick up your sample kit at one of the following locations:

3. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via email about 5 weeks after the sample drop off. Email, call, or stop by your local extension office for additional interpretational explanations.

Cost: $70/sample kit*
(comparable analysis at a private commercial lab would cost more than $300)
*Hampton Roads Sanitation District is providing sponsorship for this clinic, reducing the cost from $70/sample to $20/sample (click the Apply a Discount box in your shopping cart, and then select BSE VAHWQP SWIFT from the drop-down menu to receive the reduced price. Refunds will not be issued for registrants who fail to properly apply the discount code during checkout.); for the first 80 kits purchased (1 kit per person). Once results are returned, participants will have an opportunity to learn about the Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow (SWIFT) at their local extension office. This innovative water purification initiative is designed to ensure a sustainable source of groundwater while addressing environmental challenges such as Chesapeake Bay restoration, sea level rise and saltwater intrusion.
