2026 Chesterfield 4-H Jr. Summer Camp

 

4-H summer overnight camp provides youth countless opportunities to learn more about themselves, their peers and the natural world around them. Days are filled with camp classes (archery, kayaking, sailing, robotics, videography, marine science, challenge course, woodworking, arts and crafts, and much more!), unstructured recreation and swim time, flag ceremonies, evening programs, and campfires. Our main focus during camp is to help youth develop independence, self-esteem, confidence, interpersonal skills and other life skills.

 

The camp fee includes meals and lodging for five days and four nights, all activities, and class supplies. Optional bus transportation is provided to and from camp.

Dates: June 15-19, 2026 (drop-off and pick-up times will be shared closer to date)
Location: Jamestown 4-H Educational Center. 3751 4-H Club Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185
Price: $440 Campers, $50 Teen Counselors

 


 

Refunds:

To receive a refund, a request must be sent in writing to Chandler Burwell: bchandler@vt.edu by May 22, 2026. A $50 processing fee will apply. Refunds will not be processed after May 22. Refunds take approximately 6 weeks to be received.

 


 

Age Requirements:

Campers -A camper is any youth that is 9-13 years old. To qualify, the youth must turn at least age 9 and may not be older than age 13 as of Sept. 30, 2026.

Leaders-in-Training- Leaders-in-Training (LIT) age is 13 (specifically, must turn 13 on or before Jan. 1, 2026) and intended for youth interested in becoming a Chesterfield Teen Camp Counselor volunteer or teen leader in their community. Leaders-in-Training will learn and model the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship during the camp week. 

Teen Camp Counselors- Teen Camp Counselor age is 14-18 (specifically, age 14 on or before Jan. 1, 2025, and no older than age 18 prior to Sept. 30, 2026). For the 2026 camp, if a teen turned age 14 on or before Jan. 1, 2025, they are not eligible for enrollment, neither as a camper or CIT. These teens must apply in advance for a teen camp counselor position. Applications are available each fall around the start of the school year. These positions follow a competitive, selective process. Teens interested in this opportunity for the future should contact Chesterfield Cooperative Extension.

 


 

Adult Camper Counselor Volunteers Needed!

All Approved adult camp counselor volunteers will receive a $100.00 discount on one of your children to attending the 2026 Chesterfield 4-H Jr. Summer Camp. Adult camp counselor volunteers are required to live on-site for the entire camp week of June 15th-19th. Email bchandler@vt.edu to learn more about this opportunity.
