Description

Do you have a well, spring, or cistern?  What’s in your water?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

How does it work?

  1. Pick up your sample kit at the Franklin County VCE Office.  Kit pickup will occur on August 1, 2024, 9:00am - 12:00pm (or by appointment).
  2. Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Franklin County VCE Office.  Sample drop off will occur on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 8:30am – 9:30am. Samples can be dropped off prior to 8:30am in the cooler located on the VCE front porch.  You must provide ice to keep samples cold, if dropping off prior to 8:30am.
  3. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Results will be emailed or mailed about 5 weeks after collection.  Any questions about your results can be directed to Cynthia Martel at 540-483-5161.
