Winged Wonders: Raise Butterflies This Spring!

Calling all homeschool families, homeschool co-ops, and 4-H Families- get ready for a butterfly-tastic learning adventure!

Interested in raising butterflies and watching science come to life right before your eyes? The Henrico 4-H Winged Wonders Project is the perfect hands-on experience for youth and families to explore life cycles, nature, and pollinators in a fun and meaningful way.

What's included for just $10

The Winged Wonders 4-H Curriculum
3 cups of butterfly larvae (2 larvae per cup)
Lesson plans, craft supplies, and extra 4-H resources
Support along the way from Henrico 4-H

Need more butterflies? Additional larvae sets are available for $10 per set.

Winged Project Kits will be available for pick-up on the following dates:

April 6th: Henrico Extension Office (6800 Staples Mill Rd) from 12:30-1:30 PM
April 7th: Henrico Extension Office (6800 Staples Mill Rd) from 12:00-4:30 PM
April 9th: Henrico Extension Office (6800 Staples Mill Rd) from 12:00-4:30 PM

Program does not include butterfly nets, food, or sponges after hatching

This opportunity is open to homeschool families, homeschool co-ops, and 4-H families. Public and private school educators should contact Carter Humphries directly for participation details.

Refund Policy:

To receive a refund, a request must be sent in writing to Carter Humphries, ccd296@vt.edu by March 6, 2026. A $5 processing fee will apply. Refunds will not be processed after March 6th. Refunds take up to 6 weeks to receive.
