The first workshop will be going through the "Enhancing the Safety of Locally Grown Produce" certification training. This is great for beginning growers, those who grow for direct marketing, those who are thinking about becoming GAP certified, or those who are looking to increase their knowledge of food safety. Participants will leave with a certificate that they went through the program. This is scheduled for February 21 at the Greene Extension Office.
The second workshop will be on obtaining Organic Certification. Like the GAP workshop, we will be going through exactly what "organic" means, how to obtain the certification, and potentially hearing from a GAP auditor and certified organic farmer. This will be on February 28th at the Fluvanna Extension office.
The third workshop will be an Introduction to GAP Certification. We will be going through what exactly GAP Certification is, how to obtain it, have a producer provide input on their experience with GAP certification, and a brief overview of FSMA and who exactly is covered by FSMA regulations. This will be on March 7th at the Fluvanna Extension office.
All workshops will be from 4-6pm.
