What’s in your water?

The Virginia Household Water Quality Program aims to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with wells, springs and cisterns. We provide affordable water testing, help interpreting their water test results, and information about addressing problems.

How does it work?

Please Note: Refunds or Transfers to future programs will not be provided if you fail to either pick up your testing kit or drop off your sample before the sample collection date listed below. Refunds will not be issued for registrants who fail to properly apply the discount code during checkout.

Pick up your sample kit at the Pulaski Extension Office, 143 Third St., NW, Suite 3, Pulaski, VA 24301. Kit pickup will occur on Monday, 9/15/2025, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Collect samples and drop off at the Pulaski Extension Office, 143 Third St., NW, Suite 3, Pulaski, VA 24301. Drop off will occur on Wednesday, 9/17/2025, 8:00am - 10am.
Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via email about 5 weeks after the sample drop off.

Testing includes:

iron	manganese	bacteria (total coliform and E. coli)	arsenic
sodium	copper	lead	nitrate
hardness	pH	total dissolved solids	16 other metals and elements

Cost: $10/sample kit - SERCAP Grant Program

(comparable analysis at a private commercial lab would cost more than $300)

COST: $10 per kit

REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be given after 9/15/2025. Any refunds issued will incur a $5 processing fee.
