Do you have a well, spring or cistern? What's in your water?
Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit at the Nelson Center OR the Rockfish Valley Community Center. Kit pickup will occur on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Participants can also call the Nelson VCE Office (434-263-7180) to arrange a pick up from there.
- Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Nelson Center OR the Rockfish Valley Community Center. Sample drop off will occur on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 8:00am – 9:00am.
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Results will be emailed or mailed approximately 5 weeks after collection.

This system is designed to process credit card payments only. Registration and pre-payment are required to ensure there is a kit available for you. To pay by check, please make checks payable to VCE Nelson County, and mail with the registration form found on our brochure to: VCE Nelson County, PO Box 298, Lovingston, VA 22949. Cash/Check payments can also be brought to the VCE Nelson County office during business hours. Please note there is a $50 returned check fee. Your registration is not complete until payment has been received and processed.
