Do you have a well, spring, or cistern? What’s in your water?
Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit at the Stafford County VCE Office. Kit pickup will occur on Thursday, August 8, 2024 through Tuesday, August 13, 2024, 8:30am - 4:00pm (M-F).
- Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Stafford County VCE Office. Sample drop off will occur on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, 7:00am – 9:00am ONLY.
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. Results will be emailed or mailed about 5 weeks later. The Stafford County VCE Office is available to answer any questions you have at 540-658-8000.

This system is designed to process credit card payments only. Registration and pre-payment are required to ensure there is a kit available for you. To pay by cash or check, please visit the VCE Stafford Office at 1739 Richmond Hwy., Stafford, VA 22554, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm. Please make checks payable to Treasurer, Virginia Tech. If paying by cash the exact amount is required. All registrations must include payment and a registration form. Please note there is a $50 returned check fee. Your registration is not complete until payment has been received and processed.
