Description

Do you have a well, spring or cistern? 

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs, and cisterns.

How does it work?

  1. Pick up your sample kit at the local Extension office with physical distancing and following current COVID-19 guidelines.
  2. Collect samples on designated date and drop off locally (physical distancing and following current COVID-19 guidelines).  We will be offering a drive-through drop-off.
  3. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech.  Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via mail or email. A recorded video presentation will be available to help you understand your results.

Testing includes:

Iron

Manganese

Coliform bacteria

Arsenic

Sulfate

Sodium

Copper

E. coli bacteria

Lead

Nitrate

Fluoride

Hardness

Total Dissolved Solids

pH

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: June 4, 2021 @ noon
REFUND POLICY: Refunds are available for this program.  Any refunds issued will incur a $5 processing fee.
