Description
Do you have a well or spring?
What’s in your water?
Did you know that private water supplies, like wells, springs and cisterns, are unregulated? It is the responsibility of the homeowner to regularly test water quality, maintain the water system, and address any problems. Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells and springs.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit at the Prince Edward Extension Office. Kit pickup will occur on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
- Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Prince Edward Extension Office. Sample drop off will occur on Wednesday, October 16, 7:00am – 12:00pm (noon).
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. You will receive your confidential results via email or mail approximately 5 weeks after drop-off. A follow-up Well Water Interpretation Meeting will be advertised at a later date.
