Do you have a well, spring or cistern?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

This event is being co-sponsored with the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District and the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District.

How does it work?

  1. Pick up your sample kit at the local Extension office with physical distancing measures or request to receive it by mail.  This request can be made during registration.
  2. Collect samples on designated date and drop off locally (physical distancing measures will be in place and masks are required).
  3. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech.  Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via mail or email. A recorded video presentation will be available to help you understand your results.

Testing includes:

Coliform bacteria

E. coli bacteria

Total Dissolved Solids

Cost: $55 per sample kit.  Please pre-register by September 30th!
