As part of Virginia Tech's response to COVID-19, this program has been postponed.  We will update this site when plans for rescheduling this program have been finalized.  For anyone who is already registered, we will be in touch with you soon about rescheduling.

Do you have a well or spring?

What’s in your water?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

How it works:

Participants attend a short Kickoff Meeting, where they receive information about how to collect water samples and a sampling kit. Participants collect samples on a designated day and time and drop off at the sample collection point.  Water is analyzed on the Virginia Tech campus for 14 parameters.  Once analysis is complete, results are returned at a final meeting, water test results are explained, along with information about how to deal with any problems. If you are unable to attend the interpretation meeting, results will be mailed to you.  For a details schedule, please see the outline below.

All participant information is kept strictly confidential

Testing includes:

Coliform bacteria

E. coli bacteria

Total Dissolved Solids

Cost: $60/sample kit
