Do you have a well, spring or cistern? Do you want to learn more about the quality of your water?
Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.
How does it work?
- Pick up your sample kit at the Roanoke Extension office. Kit pick up will occur at the Brambleton Center on Monday, 8/5/2024, 4:00pm - 6:30pm.
- Collect samples on designated date and drop off at the Roanoke Extension office. Sample drop off will occur at the Brambleton Center on Wednesday, 8/7/2024, 7:30am - 9:00am.
- Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. You will receive your confidential results via email about 5 weeks after collection. The results will include an explanation of what the results mean, and information about addressing any problems. A recorded video presentation will be available to help you understand your results.

Cost: $70/sample kit* - includes sample analysis cost to test for selected chemical and bacteriological constituents –a $300 value. Please pre-register by August 1, 2024 as space is limited (2 ways to register – see below).
