Do you have a well, spring or cistern? Do you want to learn more about the quality of your water?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment!  The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

How does it work?

  1. April 13, 2020, 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM A brief informational meeting, pick up a sample kit and get instructions to collect your household water sample
  2. Collect a sample from your tap at home and complete a short questionnaire.
  3. April 15, 2020, Between 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM Drop off sample at a designated location and time
  4. May 13, 2020, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems or concerns. If you can’t attend this meeting on this day, then results will be mailed to you.

Meetings are held at VCE Office (inside Brambleton Center), 3738 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke 24018

Cost: $60/sample kit* - includes sample analysis cost to test for selected chemical and bacteriological constituents –a $300 value.  Please pre-register by March 31, 2020 as space is limited (3 ways to register – see below).     *Please note that financial support is available for individuals/families who may need assistance covering this cost. REGISTER IN PERSON**: Cash or check payments accepted Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm at the VCE office located at 3738 Brambleton Avenue, SW, Roanoke, VA  24018.  Be sure to make checks payable to Treasurer of Virginia Tech.  Please note there is a $50 returned check fee.
