Description
In January 2026, the FDA will enforce the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) 204 traceability rule for the food industry (https://www.fda.gov/food/food-safety-modernization-act-fsma/fsma-final-rule-requirements-additional-traceability-records-certain-foods) while many of seafood stakeholders are not aware of what to expect from the regulatory agencies and the current resources available. As requested by several stakeholders, the Virginia Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center (VSAREC) has decided to organize a seafood traceability summit. This summit aims to delve into the challenges of seafood traceability, especially with the impending enactment of the traceability rule. We anticipate a gathering that includes a wide spectrum of stakeholders, ranging from local Virginia seafood industries and regulatory bodies to traceability solution providers and academic researchers.
